Important Things to Know After Treatment
Follow up Appointments
Following radiation therapy, you should be able to resume your normal activities. You will likely see your doctor every 3 to 4 months for a follow-up exam. He or she may recommend specific scans to monitor your response to treatment.
Your skin will likely be more sensitive in the future. It is important to apply SPF 30 or greater sunscreen every 80 minutes while outdoors. If possible, keep the treatment area covered by wearing clothing or a hat.
A support group may be beneficial for the cancer survivor going forward. Support groups can offer education and interaction with other cancer survivors. Ask your treatment team about support groups that are available in your area or online.
